Sorry for the confusion, I meant rebuilding (or at least re-sealing and checking compression) a junkyard engine and putting it in.

In the good old days you might have gotten away with it but now with emission checks, not going to happen. If I was going to repair it I would look for a donor with a good engine but not much else. That way you can drive it to see how it runs (vs a junk yard who would never lie about the mileage) and know how tired it is.
