I've got a 1920 with a 757C Backhoe and the lower frame bolt's that attach the hoe frame to the tractor frame keep snapping on me. NH shop says thay are 16mm, 80, grade 5 (8.8) bolts so I'm using the right ones. In the NH scehmatic it shows two plates, one on each side of the bracket which are not on my setup. Could this be causing an increase in the shock factor enough to bend and break these bolts? Someone recommended going to stainless as it's got the tensil strength of a grade 8 bolt with the flexibility of grade 5 bolt - Perhaps the best of both worlds.

Then another guy that used to work on Case tractors said they are through bolted with nut's and lock washers. Recommneded I drill through the frame for 5/8 stainless and be done with it. I'm a little leary of doing this as it deviates from OEM setup.

What do you all think I should do. Or perhaps I'm just being too hard on the backhoe but I suspect I'm operating within design limits.

Thanks in advance. Todd in Placerville, CA.
