Wow, that's a pretty cool idea. Doable without performing major changes to a working machine.
It'll take me a while to work out the parts, I'll post pics when I get it done.

I own a Homelite R-4c tiller and found that removing the wheels completely, or raising them to their highest position, then raising the handlebars slightly to get the tiller to move forward works best. Obviously if you are just beginning the tilling operation or you are in very hard ground, you will need to be cautious. Utilize the clutch leaver carefully. This machine will dig and dig in loose soil and uses very little fuel with the original Kohler K-91 engine.
