Aquatic Weed Rake

In the last ten years the lake I live on has been overrun with some type of weed, I believe it to be milfoil. It’s gotten so bad I have a hard time getting my rowboat to the dock now. Finally feed up with it, I welded together a rake for the weeds. It’s pretty simple and works great. I made mine with various scrap angle iron/steel pieces.
1. Started with a 40” piece of 1.5” angle iron.
2. I welded 18” x 1.5-2” angle iron tines spaced about 8” apart to the 40” angle iron.
3. Bent a 4’x 2”x 1/8” flat steel into a “V” that was 24” wide
4. Welded that to the rake such that the tines are perpendicular to the “V” hitch
5. Tied on 100’ of rope on to the front of the “V” hitch part.
6. Tied the other end to my tractor (Ingersol 448)
From the end of my dock, I threw it into the water. At first, I was a little worried about not getting out because I couldn’t budge the rake much. I got on the tractor and drove it out in low range with out even bogging the engine at half speed or breaking traction. Within 20 minutes, I cleared my dock area and had a big mound of weeds and muck on shore.

Clever idea, Schultz. Necessity truely is the mother of invention, huh?/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
