Finished the bale spear for my DK45SE. Worked fine on my JD 510 bales, will try some Vermeer bales tomorrow. Bought a forged spear and welded the rest out of 3 x 2 x 1/4 tube and scrape metal.

Is that a 5x6 bale? Looks like a good test for a spear anyway!

The paint is from cans of Jacobson paint that came with my used truckster. My JD 510 bales 5 x 6 bales but not as dense as my neighbors vermeer baler so when I lifted the heavier bales I will need to fill the tires unless there is a bale on the back. Also included a picture of the Piranha bar installed. IMG_20130906_101724_149.jpgIMG_20130906_101750_463.jpgIMG_20130906_102021_902.jpgIMG_20130906_113150_390.jpg

How do you find the piranha bar? Any chance of it catching on something enough to bend when back dragging ?

The bale spear looks good, and will work on either end!

The piranha is heavier than the lip of the bucket so with weight and power of the DK45 I am not worried about the Piranha bar, worst possibility is that an outside end of the bar getting under a large rock and twisting the loader.
