Best attachment for stick/brush removal?

Interesting hammer knife blade. Most of the ones I've seen have quite a wide flat cutting edge on the hammer. Does the knife pattern miss a bit or does it just have LOTS of mounting places on the cuttershaft? It almost looks like a blade for a "fine" cut cuttershaft.

I think there are fifty of those on a 48" mower, located at three positions around the shaft. Never paid attention to the spacing, as I always figured it would have to be complete coverage in order to cut everything in the ditch, without having to make a second pass.
