Well I found a serious problem with the Bison.
The 3 point hitch mounting pins had been ripped out of the cast iron mounting, cracking the castings.
Then somewhere some one attempted to fix it. Welding bolts to cast iron is never a strong option.
And his welding skills were below 7th grade level anyway.
So I dreamed up a plan and started drilling, cutting and welding some heavy metal.
This is what I came up with. Do you think it will hold? 6 bolts on the main mount 2-16mm in the back
and 4-14mm up the bottom holding the plate and draw bar. Then extra support on the ends of the pins
from the chain mounts. I also had to extract 2 broken helicoiled bolts in the left axle housing and grind out the coils. Then rethreaded the housing to 9/16 course for some big bolts.
I'm pretty happy with it and it added a extra 45 pounds of weight in a good spot.
The carnage
The plan
I started on this tractor in the front and the back is almost done.
A wheel is on order from Town&Country (I found a bent cracked one on front) hope to see it this week.
Then I want to get it out and raise **** in one of my fields. Why? because I can is a good enough reason for me.
