Is there a secret to shifting out of 4WD? I could get in 4wd easy enough, but I had a hard time getting it out of 4wd, sometimes I tried and tried and it was like locked.

DoubleL, the problem with being stuck in 4wd is driveline windup. You can't get that tension off the driveline unless you move slowly forward and rotate the steering wheel left/right a bit. However, the easiest way is to put the loader bucket down and just slightly lift the front tires off the ground. That will relieve all the windup immediately and the shifter will come right out of 4wd easily. This is a common occurance on our tractors and many others.

Nice photos! She's a beaut!

Thanks all.

Bucket is good and broken in with scratches and dirt marks, spent about 3 hours cleaning up some logs, rocks and you name it. Like I read some where on this forum once you have a loader tractor you will find all kinds of uses for it.

jinman thanks so much for the 4wd "lockup" removal tip. :)

Hope you enjoy your 3040 tractor. I have been also looking at the Boomer 8N. I found a dealer quote for $24,999.00 for tractor and loader package. IS this a good deal?
