box blade or scraper blade

Land plane works well if there is not grass. I also think that there are more, beside road maintenance, uses for a BB such as moving dirt, cutting ditches, ripping out small trees and stumps etc.

I like the boxblade for moving the dirt and leveling. It helps to use the scarifiers to loosen up the tight bonded stuff and for road maintenance with potholes is a must to scarify and then compact. I just got an 8 foot landscape rake and find it to be much superior for leveling and filling in holes. It will shuffle the material from side to side and let just enough trickle through the tines to fill in low spots that a scraper blade wont do. A scraper blade is good for digging ditches but that is about all I use it for and sometimes not even then, just crank the lift arm down on one side and the boxblade does pretty good for small not to deep drainage. If I had to buy only 2 and I think you need 2 it would be boxblade and landscape rake. With those 2 you dont really need a scraper blade.
