The biggest thing with break-in is to season the block and the rest of the engine to the heat and of coarse cooling. To heat the engine up good several times with cooling in between.
Kubota will tell you to run it not at full throttle but at varied throttle for fifty hours. This with cooling the engine in betwen will help the engine set.
When we do it the first couple of hours we will run at partial throttle and then with the bigger farm tractors put them on the dyno and run for a period of about six to eight hours. The first two hours will be at partial throttle and the last at full throttle.
Tractor engines are not like car or truck engines, they often run at full throttle and near maximum load! That is why they don't always run for long with lower grade car and truck oils!
