I'd like to buy a used trenching bucket for my Kubota L35's backhoe.

Of course, I can go and purchase a new one from my dealer(not a financial possibility at the moment), or try and find a used Kubota somewhere local(now we're getting into my price range, but probably limited supply).

Therefore, what I'm really wanting to know is. Are there other brands(JD, Ford, NH, Case/IH, Kioti, Woods, etc) that I can buy that are a direct pin on without any modifications?

It'd be nice if I can expand my possibilities of used buckets, so to speak

I'm positive :D, I'm in the right place for an answer to this question.

There is no standardization of buckets across brands of hoes. Pin
spacing and pin sizes are all over the map. I have lots of data on
CUT hoe attachments, and the dipper stick width is all over the map,
too.

You could attempt to adapt a used bucket, but finding one narrower than
12" is tough. Narrower buckets don't work very well, generally, as the
soil often gets stuck in the bucket. I had a 9-incher, but I got rid of it.
I use a 12" bucket for most things.

BTW, among the pros, a 12-inch bucket IS a trenching bkt.

Thanks dfkrug,

If I'd thought about it a little more, it stands to reason that a company would want to make their set up "proprietary". Makes the customer have to come back.

Are the after-market much better for pricing?

It seems sort of odd in a way. You have the whole QA from the skid steer industry that has become the industry standard, yet you can't get the manufacturers to standardize the sizing of buckets. Just one of the vagaries of life I guess.

Thanks again.

Bobcat at one point dominated the Skidsteer industry, which allowed them
to set a "standard", even if they did not intend to do so. Others simply
made their attachments compatible to the industry leader.

There is no such dominant force for TLBs or backhoe attachments. I
think the biggest are Cat, JCB, and Case.

You can often find used hoe buckets for sale locally, but they are not
always cheap. All the big players charge a LOT for new hoe buckets.

In terms of aftermarket, I would guess that Woods provides hoe buckets
(and maybe loader bkts, too) for more TLBs than any other vendor. I
could be wrong. They do own the well-known brands Gannon and WainRoy.
