Kioti DK45SE / Massey Furguson 165
Thinking about replacing my MF165. There is a 2008 demo model at the dealer with 300 hrs + loader - no cab, asking $28,000 CAN. Is this a good price? What would this tractor normally go for?

that seems high for a dk45, but you are in canada so maybe things are higher up there, i've got a dk55 with a loader i'll sell for 19000 cash.

I paid $32K for my DK45 with loader and cab. $28k seems high. I think at the time the factory cab was around $6-7K less $32 = $25k. I would offer under $25k. They have a four year warranty.

Seems like a lot of hours. I bought mine in June of 08 and thus far 163 hours.

Good luck...

PS: my buddy bought a DK35hst with back hoe last year - month before my purchase. He paid $28k.

i don't know how much difference there is in the value of the canadian dollar and the american dollar but my DK55 cost new in 2007 with the loader was 26000, now its only got 248 hrs or less, so if thats a demo model it sure has a lot of hours on it, i'd say 28000 is very high.

I'm not so sure that would be a good price even if it came with a cab.

maybe you canadian guys should buy your tractors in the states and take them back across the border or is that not legal?

300 hours on a 2008 is not a demo, it's used. 300 hours = 50 full 6 hour days of tractor use. Price should reflect that. Only benefit is if the warranty hasn't started but I'd say 300hrs is well beyond what you'd expect from a demo.

thanks for the replies. I agree that 28k does seem a bit high for 300hrs. 3.5 years of warranty left. Any ideas on what I should seriously offer?

I don't know what a new DK45se is selling for these days in Canada. I'd have to take into account the fact that a new one would come with a rebate ($1200 in the USA I believe) and that while this tractor is called a demo it is really just a used machine especially unless there are a full 4 years of warranty on it once you buy it. The unit would likely have sold at some discount, 10% or so anyway, when new. I'd be thinking about 25-30% off the retail new price which as I figure it would be about 15-20% or so off the original purchase price for what amounts to a one year old tractor.

By the way, unless you are looking specifically for HST, a DK55 for 19K looks pretty good.

What does this term "demo" mean?
With 300 hours does it mean demolition?
300 hours on a car could easily mean 15,000 miles.
