BX25 vs B2626 with backhoe

Here is a 2 page thread, quite readable, about the compare/contrast between a B and BX from my own real world experience. Spend 10 minutes and read through it, and I think you'll be glad you did.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../185147-bx1860-vx-b2320-contrast-compare.html

Truly, they are virtually the same tractor. I know that is almost heresy to say out loud, but honestly? That's my honest perspective. The major, most important difference, beyond the nice features the 20 series B give you (better dash, 3 speed ranges, seat, etc) is the ground clearance. Did I mention ground clearance? The B is available with rear wheel spacer kit which would make the stability issue somewhat mute, in 90% of the cases. Also surprisingly, the weight differences between the BX and 20 series B are pretty darn small.

If you do rough stuff in the woods or work a market garden, the B is the far better choice. If not, the BX is in many ways the better choice. That's as fair as I can be. Both are great tractors. You just have to be clear in your mind about what it is the tractor will be doing.

I would definitely recommend turf tires especially if you are going to mow with it. You can also use chains for snow ice or heavy duty ground engagement work. I had them on my BX and chains fit no problem with the Brotek wheel spacers. They also made the machine much more stable. FWIW, My B which also has spacers is much bigger height wise than the BX but feels more stable. I used to really cringe when using the 3pt spreader or loader and now it doesnt seem to affect the tractor.

Ok, you have the perfect solution :D buy them all.. only wish i could :D

Looking at your land, id say its quite similar to the layout of my own , even the slopes. Do you have any issues with the BX (or the B) mowing across the top slope, by the raised garage with the open door? This picture

How about in front of your house where it appears to be a bit steeper?

I have an angle gauge around here somewheres... if i can find it ill give some better information re: slope.

BP: (and everyone) Thanks. Ill give your comparison a read .

Has anyone directly compared a BX to a GC?

I have used BXs for mowing except for a B7800 with 6'RFM I used for front yard which is flater, not flat but flater.
I currently have the F3080 4wd for all of my mowing. It's the most stable mower Kubota and maybe anyone makes.
The best BX for mowing was a BX1500 (smaller and closer to the ground) and then all the other BXs.
The Bs that I have owned and own do not feel as stable to me and they aren't, in my opinion as any BX. I once traded for an L3240HST and it was a short term machine, very scary on hill side sitting so high off of the ground.
Get a BX2660, MMM and under carriage plates or leave the MMM on all of the time which is what I did. If you want a BH then get the BX25 with MMM and take FEL and BH off when mowing.

Johnthomas, when you mow the upper area, do you go vertically or horizontally?

I know vertically is ideal (and safer) but even if i go vert, id still have to turn at the bottom of the hill (property doesnt go to a "flat" for turning). Currently i mow horizontal, with my butt hanging over the uphill fender :D

I have a BX with a 60" MMM. I'm pretty happy with it. The main reason I bought it was was for mowing hills at my house. A lot of what I mow is a cross slope, and I filled the rear tires, which I thinks helps. The steep hill, I mow up and down, not cross wise. I have backed up and down this hill when mowing, this might be an option for you. I keep the nose up hill when doing this. You just want to make sure you have it in low range and 4 wheel drive when doing this.

Actually the upper area near tractor building is almost flat on the front (open) side. With my F I mow vertical, horizontal and then diagional all of it except for one spot that is really, really steep and I go up it and coast back down. Right in front of my house is the steepest other than the one corner spot near my far tree line. I mowed the front of houset up and down with BX2660 but some times mowed it cross the slope with the BX1500. I would never mow any of it cross ways with a B.
Here are some pictures around my house but slopes/angles are hard to see/judge in pictures.

Well, after about 3 years of BX ownership, I can answer my own thread. I should have went with the B!

I think that no one is surprised by that.

It really comes down to two things....tool for the job and what you can deal with....I think we all understand the tool for the job, but what you can deal with is a little different.

I have been on my BX for a few hours.....and when I get off the machine it is really all I can do....neighbor was over and said it is a good thing you bought a small tractor...I doubt you could get off a larger machine....I could but it would not be fun.
