Wife wanted to eat fish while we were out today. Captain Ds was close by so we went there. Every piece of fish was nothing but the dark vein of a fillet. It appears to me they are selling nothing but the cull of the fillet. We always cut the vein and discarded it. And when the piece is only about one inch wide it makes for nothing but vein. Guess Ill go to Long Johns from now on.

We've eaten in a lot of different Captain D's over the years, and they used to be really good. Perhaps the best was in Princeton, WV. But we haven't been there in quite a few years now. And perhaps 8 or 10 years ago, we found one here close in Highland Village. But we ate there one time and one time only because it was so bad. And very shortly after that, it closed. After it stood vacant awhile, the building reopened as a What-a-burger. I don't even know where there is a Captain D's around here anymore.

And Terry, that looks like a fine meal to me.

Thank you, Bird.

I’d never even heard of Captain D’s before. Are they just in Eastern states?

I've never heard of Captain D's either. Apparently there is one in Fort Drum NY that's 50 miles north of me. Too far to drive for a fish sandwich or dinner.
And I agree with SJay, what is that stuff.

IMO...All those fast food fish places the food all tastes like the grease it was fried in...
What I miss are the "fish and chips" places like Churches and Arthur Treacher's...

Farm raised salmon?

Farm raised salmon?

Definitely healthier than fried fast food options.

As far as the salmon goes omega 3’s are pretty much equal to wild. Environmental issues are debatable. For consistency/price/ value, farmed gets the nod IMO.

Of course there’s much more to the debate than this....
