I had a friend that used to race motorcycles on the ice of Lake St. Clair in Michigan. He would screw in hex-head sheet metal screws into the bulky part of the tread.

One thing that would concern me is where some of the screws may wind up when they come out of the tractor tires. Hafta think somewhere on the driveway, probably in the path of Wifey's car.

I read in a 4WD magazine many moons ago that guys racing cars on an ice-covered lake ran "bolted" tires. They would actually use nuts and bolts, then use tubes in the tires...............chim

I do the same for my fishing boots, put the screws right into the felt bottoms for traction on the algae covered rocks. I use a little dab of superglue before screwing them in.
