I'm not familiar with kubota QD couplers. perhaps yours are not the type where a push/pull makes a difference. I know the CNH deluxe remotes.. as well as the remotes on some UT sized JD tractors do this.

Thanks to all for the replies. I suspect they have to be 'broken in'. Last night I was able to remove one with a quick push in then pull out. Another needed help with a screwdriving pressing on the 'sleeve' - similar to the way other QD's work where you need to pull back on a cover. I'll keep at it. Thanks again!

The Kubota QDs simply have the lock sleeve captive in the mounting block. I believe most of the resistance has to do with the flexibility or lack thereof in the connections to the QDs.

Any residual pressure on either side will make connecting a LOT harder. Turn off the engine, cycle the stick, tap the balls. It will make a difference.
