Glad you've figured it out. I looked at my Craftsman trimmer last night. It looked to me like the black bracket was anchored under the carb, but it was hard to see...I didn't want to take it all apart since things I take apart usually end up permanently trashed (on the plus side, at least after I've dismantled them, they fit in the trash easier).
