I planted expensive red maples in front yard in Spring, watered all summer they were doing great. Yesterday noticed they're all torn up. We have deer, they even eat sassafras growing at front porch. Apparently a buck rubbing antlers and I keep them sprayed with deer off.
Black is prune seal hoping they'll live? Wondering thoughts on that & what to do. I'm a good shot but never hunted, don't eat deer meat. Shoot & drag off into woods?

The problem here is my trees are not safe until they are over 6" diameter or so. My plastic tree protectors don't go that big so I would have to go with fencing. Too many trees for that.
