Come down here and see what you pay for healthcare!!!!

Ya, I was thinking about this thread and the same thought popped into my head. Healthcare and guns seem to be hot button topics in the States (anyone see the irony?:)?), so I won't take the thread in that direction, but needless to say, our "socialist" programs (Employment Insurance, Canadian Pension Plan, Healthcare etc) come with the burden of higher taxes. I might grind my teeth a little when you guys talk about stealing a DK40 for $21K - $23K out the door, but overall, I'm happy with the system, it's probably close to a wash in the end, as you point out.

The thing that really bits my AS$ is that prices are higher on this side of the boarder to start with. Books are always held up as examples but the same thing applies to almost anything. Look on the back, there's a US price and a Canadian price and they're usually 10% - 20% appart.

Other than the sales tax, you guys are just not as big a market so don't get quite the volume discount we do. Probably cheaper to buy many things besides tractors south of your border. I would imagine that the biggest insult would be to discover that a case of Molson or LaBatt could be had for less down here too!

Taxes complicate things a little. A case of Molson or LaBatt (or any liquor, beer or wine) have "sin" taxes that go way up and above the 13% (in Ontario) sales tax. There have been many reasons given for price differences on regular products, some may be valid, most sound like BS to me. To go back to books, the same price inequality exists for books published in Canada by Canadian publishers. There is a report (I wonder how much that cost) that our Senate is releasing today that is supposed to help explain the price gap, although, I doubt anything new will come out of it.

That's a good deal . If I didn't have get the best deal I would have gone with a dealer here in Maine and payed full price. You go any cheap for the best deal you get bad services trust me on that. Now I found a dealer in Maine really helpful if I do buy another kioti I will be buying from them.
Absolutely buy from the local dealer, unless someone else has one with bad tires for 3 grand less. Then take the savings gravel the road and sic your lawyer on the bargain dealer. That's what I would do anyway.
