In searching for walnut tree "toxicity" and tomato plants--they are very toxic--I found a number of sites that discuss the toxicity of walnut trees against Norway Spruce and Silver Maple trees. The conventional wisdom says you cannot plant Norway Spruce or Silver Maple, (plus a host of other things) within 50 ft of the dripline of a walnut tree.
Well, I planted a couple of walnut trees--and two pecan trees--in my yard. Problem is, I aslo planted 550 Norway Spruce and about 10 silver maple that are pretty important to me.
After reading what I read, I figure I have a problem and need to get those two walut trees out of here. Maybe pecans as well. I know they are very toxic to tomatoes but the tree thing is new to me. Before I dig out those two nice walnut trees, anyone know any more about this toxicity issue as it relates to the spruce and maple mentioned??
