YM 240
I bought a YM240 a few months ago and it tends to run hot after about an hours use. The previous owner put a temp gauge on it to be sure he didn't run it too hot. I have been shutting it down at about 230 degrees. I have flushed the radiator, cleaned the radiator fins, replaced the cap with a 7lb cap from hoye, and adjusted the coolant ratio. It also has a water pump.

Any other suggestions on what I could try? Does it have a thermostat that could be locked up?

The 240 does not have a thermostat. It could be that you need to get your radiator checked out at a radiator shop. You might also check for a collapsed radiator hose. What size implement are you using when it gets hot? I talked to a guy yesterday that had a 1510 that was overheating when he was mowing 4' tall grass with a 5' brush mower.

the radiator doesn't leak at all and hoses are in good shape. The only implement i have is a 4 ft finishing mower (397lbs). It runs hot even when i am not pulling the mower, but obviously heats up quicker when mowing.

It could be that the inner passages inside the radiator are clogged up. That is what will need to be checked out at a radiator shop.

Is there a prescreen on the front of your radiator? There should be a screen in front of your radiator to filter out debris. If it is there; is it clogged? If it is not there then you probably have junk stuffed in your little air fins... you can wait till dark and see how a flash light shines through. You can very carfully use an air compressor to blow the radiator out. Blow from the engine side out. Try not to damage the radiator fins with the air pressure..... sometimes a shop vac in reverse will work but normally you need a little more umph. If this is the case get a prescreen so it don't clog again....good luck!!

As said before , your radiator is probably still plugged. This model is known for cool running, my YM2000B barely gets off the cold mark unless the radiator gets plugged with chad from mowing. Before having it professionally cleaned, I would try backflushing. Remove the upper rad hose at the radiator, insert a garden hose into rad hose and pack with rags to seal. Turn on water full blast and run til clear water comes out the upper hose connector. This blows all the dirt back out the way it came in. If a thermostat were present, you would have to remove it to do this.
