Drove a new 2018 GMC Sierra

Having purchased 25 or so new Silverados;I like my current 2017 Black Out Z71 the best. The big change and for the better was from the 2013 to the 2014 models.I always buy the double cab(formally extended cab) mostly because they are assembled in Fort Wayne,In. and never had a problem with any built there.
5.3 V8 ,4WD and best of 23 mpg on the high-way and it sounds like a truck not a import tuner car.
In our neck of the woods Chevrolet is by far the most popular truck,Ram second(mostly because of a great local dealer) and Ford/Toyota far behind.

Mine is a 2016 Sierra All Terrain X. SLT Z71. Like yours, complete blackout.

Wow, very nice running truck...Loaner from the dealer while mine is getting an oil change and inspection. Smooth running and very nice looking truck. If mine fell off the lift I wouldn't feel too bad. :D

1400 miles on it and the best MPG showing is almost 23MPG..Not bad for a 5.3 with 3:42's and a 6 speed.
The oil guzzling afm is more a gimmick than anything. They have been replacing cams and lifters on 2016's.

My 04 1500 crew 4x4 5.3 3:73 got 23mpg highway with 217,000 miles on it, no afm, my 4.8 3:42 gets 22 highway. If you dont own an afm truck, dont buy one.

My 11 will be my last GM.

But, they will be releasing a 3.6 twin turbo in the 19 sierra/Silvy. Hopefully the beginning of the end of AFM.

My 2016 GMC has AFM and hasnt used a drop of oil in 15k. I tow a lot with it too.

I'll check it out when the put a Cummins under the hood.

I have been burned enough on a couple of Cummins engines that I won't buy anything with a Cummins in it. Even when I buy class 8 trucks. Dearly loved the N-14 when they were making them, but Cummins has lost all luster since then.

One of the reasons I went with 6.0 2500HD Silverado. No AFM and a long track record of reliability. I needed more hauling capacity than a 1500 could give me also.

Price tags are to large and the depreciation to high. Saved my money for a tractor.

Who wants or needs a diesel . The wife’s 2017 Sierra 1500 crew cab 4x4 has the Max Towing option with the 420HP 6.2. Power and efficiency of a diesel without gelled filters, glow plugs, two batteries, turbo, variable waste gate, EGR cooler, particulate filter and urea injection. Plus the cost of the diesel option and higher priced fuel.
