I bought , actually traded for, an old brushcutter. The tag says its a caldwell model S2S58. does anyone have any information on this unit? im trying to find a replacement blade for it, but havent had any luck. the gearbox seems to be very heavy duty and in good shape but the blades are a unique shape that would be difficult to reproduce.instead of being a typical flat blade, they are a dropped blade .
the previous owner said his dad used to make blades out of old grader blades for it and said that it was an excellent brush buster. to my knowledge, grader blades are usually high carbon steel and i wouldnt think it would be standard practice to heat and bend it to shape.
It would be far easier to just keep my eye out for a decent used bush hog, but you must know...i just dont have it in me to throw away a vintage implement that could possibly be used for something. Its what i do...i do my best to preserve and breathe new life into old stuff. call me crazy, lol
