I was having problems with a broken spring on the ignition points on my Farmall H. A new set of points would last just over a year, and then the spring would break. I was told that the rotor was worn to the point where it wobbled, causing excessive spring movement. Does this make sense? He also said it痴 at least a $300 fix.
I then switched back to a magneto. Starts good when cold, but won稚 start when it痴 hot. I got tired of fiddling with it and went back to the battery ignition.
This time I put a Pertronix electronic ignition system in it. What a huge difference it made! Now it will start cold without choke, hot starts, no problem. When I shift into road gear, no sputtering. It runs almost like a new tractor. For $87.50, I wish I had done that years ago.
