Tractor
John Deere 2720
Well after many weeks of looking, new and used and getting price quotes
I finally decided to order a new JD 2720 with 54" snow blower and 200CX loader. After getting quotes on 2320, 2520 and 2720 I decided it was a toss up between the 2520 and 2720. The last dealer I went to gave me an attractive quote for the 2720 which was only $1200 more then the 2520. Since I do not purchase tractors very often I decided the extra ponies were worth the $1200.
Hopefully it will be here in about 2 weeks

Congrats !!!

All I can tell you is if it's a 2 week delivery its going to be the longest 2 weeks of your life. Take my word for it.. I ordered mine 3/11 and its getting delivered Monday 4/4 I had to wait for everything to come in.. My suggestion to you is. Spend alot of time on this website. Learn everything there is to know about your tractor before it comes in. It does make the days go by faster.. :D

Enjoy

You stated $1200 difference from the 2720 vs 2520 Now that JD is giving $2500 rebate on the 2520. April 1st thru May 31st. Thats an extra $1500 on top of the $1000 JD was offering. Is the 3 extra pto hp worth $ 2700 bucks? That's a 62D MMM free just for choosing the 2520.

After mulling it over all winter, I finally decided on the 2720 last week and was just trying to finesse the financing with my wife and the week before I was going to give the dealer the go ahead, the $2500 pops up. Now I am in a dilemma again. I really want the 30HP, but I really could use the savings.....

You are lucky...you already committed and don't have to rethinmk it..

The 2520 has 20.5 PTO HP. The 2720 has 23.5 PTO HP. That is almost a 15 percent increse.

You made the right decision by me 70stang. I sure could use the extra ponies running my reverse tine tiller.

Yes I know about the $1500 incentive on the 2520 and agree that does make the 2720 a lot ore expensive. However at the time I made the order I did not know about the incentive and niether did my salesman. If I had ordered the 2520 I could fight for the $1500 but I chose the 2720 which I do want so I really do not have any basis for a complaint. Even thou knowing what I know now I would not have gone the exta $2700 for the 2720.

I hvae seen many adds for used 2520 for sale for around $17,000 with the $2500 incentive the new tracotr ends up very close to the price of a 2007 used tractor.

Like someone else said in another thread -- make a decision and don't look back.
