Hi all,

I want to use a flail mower in order to mulch green manures and then incorporate directly into the soil (using a 'S' tyne cultivator with a rolling cultivator follower).

When does one use a "Y" vs "T" style knives?

Are the tracks made by tyres pushing down the vegetation a problem or does the mower handle it okay? (Assuming the mower is wider that the tracks of course).

Spent many an hours learning much from you all, many many thanks....:)

The best and cheapest way to do what you want is to buy a sheet or concrete REO mesh , throw a few car tyres on top and tow it around the paddock frequently , the rain will do the rest .

Hi Iron Horse,

Sorry, I didn't say it is for vegie growing beds, not paddocks...

Not sure I'd agree that your suggestion would do what I am after even in paddocks.

I need to cut the stuff up somehow.

Thanks for the idea....

Bob

No it wont work in a vegie patch but it's all we use here to spread manure . Every farm will have a sheet of mesh with 4 car tyres laying across the back for spreading in the paddocks . What you need is a rotary hoe with a crumble roller fitted .
