The glow plug heater helps a little but it still only starts on 2 cylinders, and only when it feels like it. (black smoke when it tries to start)

I was told today it may be a couple dead glow plugs.
It started pretty well August/September, and always runs well and smooth once started.

So what's your thoughts on this being a glow plug issue?
Thanks

On a tractor that old I would bet it has some dead glow plugs.

You can test them with an ohm meter.

That said glow plugs (SBA185366060) typically don’t cost too much, so I‘d replace all of them.

Use a voltmeter to see if you're even getting voltage to the glow plugs. If you're getting power check to see if they're open or burned out. You should also check your air filter and air path to the intake manifold.

Thanks DS80! That part number comes up at $9 each and is listed for over 70 machines. I ordered 4 and should have them Friday or Monday.
I am working through lack-of-maintainence issues from the previous owner(s), and $36 is a cheap check-off from my list.
