I'm looking at an early 90s 260C.
According to the ad this machine has "Mechanical Assist front wheel drive, forward - reverse shift, electric pedal disconnect, lock out torque converter, 8 speed transmission Hi-Lo, PTO - 540 rpm, 3 pt hitch"
Tractor does not have a loader.
I am not finding much info on this machine but have some questions on it.
First of all it is supposedly 63 hp but the seller says it is not turboed. How did they get 63 ponies out of a naturally aspirated 201?
Secondly, how suitable for heavy draft work would this transmission be?
Is the pto Independent or some other type?
Could a guy add the second hydraulic pump to this model - with proper valving/piping of course.
How reliable is the FWA?
Does this tractor have a good repution for reliability in general?
I'd like to find a late model Ford with FWA, about 50 hp. I'd prefer the industrial type because they are lower than an all purpose model of comperable HP.
If I don't buy this 260C what other industrial model would suit my purposes?
I would do a lot of bush hogging, some plowing and discing and general work with it.
I do not want/need a loader.
Thanks for any info.
