ouch.... i always check oil and rad before I start equipment. can be a pain sometimes.. but it prevents engine seizes.

Yeah that's what happens when your buddy doesn't listen to you I told him to check it and thought he would so I didn't worry about it

Is there any way you could tell me what motor is in it by the number on the side of the block that I posted c7nn6015

i'm mostly a 39-64 ford guy... could date an earlier block for ya.

rickb or whodat might be able to id that casting number though. any letters after the 6015? i can't see the pics enough to tell

Well I found out it is a 175 and actually a 3000 but the guy turned the enjection pump up. I also found another something the oil pan was crushed in so I took it off to check the pistons and connecting rods and all the bearings and stuff were in good shape and I could gently tap the pistons and they would move. But the was a huge problem when I dropped the pan tha oil pump was broke and laying in the bottom. So of course it didn't have any oil going anywhere. Do you think it's cam locked maybe? I haven tpulled the timing cover off yet but I plan on it soon so I can pull the cam and Check it

Simms pumps on 3000's not 4000's.
To tell whether it is a 4000 or 3000, wet, inboard brakes on 4000, dry outboard shoe brakes on 3000.
Engine serial number (not very important is stamped in smooth area on RH side of block center just above oil pan.
What is the model number on the RH boss above the starter? Date code and serial number located there too.
Looks like seized #3 from overheating.

it's kinda obvious that you havn't read the thread in it's entirety.

the fact that a 3000 engine can live in a 4000 chassis is the issue. just iding wet brakes don't tell him the engine.. but that's already been sorted out..
