you are right I have no experience with ford 9n tractors .....


I assumed it was an older unit .. my bad ... the suggestions were to break down the problem into smaller units and trace each one ...

it IS an older unit. the 9N predated the 8N. 9n was 1939 , 2n 1942, 8n 1948 ( year models ).

the front mount ignitions was PRIOR tot he side mount.

some of your info was fine.. just some of the specifics will confuse the OP as they cannot be done as described due to the physical makeup of the distribuitor.

general advice is fine, untill you hit a left turn on a specific application and the OP shoots off a cliff when what he see's doesn't equate to what was advised.

that's all I'm saying.

your advice would have been fine for 51 and up machines..

the first part is the most important one ... check for power to the coil ... switches were known to go bad .....
