Yes, I hope he's happy and has worked out the numbers to have a sustainable future. I'm actually surprised more wealthy people don't do something similar, as in quit your job and do something personally important.

Smart man. Pro-football is a good way to live fast, die young and rich, and not really accomplish anything lasting in life.
This way he gets to do something useful with his money, have fun, and make a big impact in other people's lives.

NFL stands for Not For Long. Hopefully he played long enough and has a large enough nest egg to loose a large amount of money every year and live to a old age with out problems. Many pro athletes are ill equipped to fathom money handling matters.
