I know you have a fuel tank in your truck, but it is designed to take a hit by another vehicle and still...........you get the idea.

Ford pinto, Ford Crown Victoria both have a history of going boom when the tank is impacted.

If your pump is an explosion proof pump the there should be no problem in what you want to do, your transfere tank is mounted in probably the safest place on the truck.

We seem to have a shortage of old tractors around here that aren't being used. Any that I have seen are mechanically driven. What do the old diesel trucks use for a pump?

My old diesels just use the injection pump and gravity feed. my new diesels have a electric fuel pump.

A neighbor has an old oliver with an electric fuel pump.. has it wired up and hanging by the lines and wire ont he sid eo fthe engine.. with a toggle switch wired up just hanging there.. ugly as sin.. but that old oliver starts on the 3rd rev... .. think it is a 550?
