Tractor
2016 Branson 2400h with SL00 FEL
I'm looking at buying a GC2300 with FEL that has 3870 hours on it. The seller is asking $8500 Canadian for it which is about $6250 USD.

For a 20 year old tractor that's about 200 hours per year. I haven't gone to see it in person yet as it's a 4.5 hour drive. Depending on how it was maintained are the hours too high to bother with?

I paid $3200 for my 1980s Satoh 370D 4x4 knowing I'd have to change the pistons. After new pistons and rings my Satoh works great but at 15 HP the 23HP in the Massey is pretty tempting.

If it checks out, I'm under the impression that they're really great little tractors; that said, I wonder if that price is a little steep? I genuinely do not know, but prices are crazy these days- it could be an excellent deal!

Looks like it has been stored indoors it's entire life. FEL hydraulic lines look original, as do tires. Not much wear on them, so why the high hours? 200hrs/year is agricultural or industry. Has it been used as a stationary engine for the PTO, or moving trailers around a yard? There is so much to look at in person. Engine mounts, steering wheel bushings, safety switches (pretty sure the seat one is jumpered) post welded on bucket, missing front grill guard? I would ask for more/detailed pictures before making a 9 hour trip.

I own a 2003 GC2300 (original owner) with about 600 hours. Based on that I would say that one with as many hours as 3870 is amazing that it lasted that long. There is no way it is worth $6250. Maybe if it is in running condition $1000. Though even that would be a gamble.

As for the price there just isn't many small used tractors in my market area. $1k doesn't buy anything in my market. Used rotary cutters regularly go up for sale for $2k.

Thanks for the information.

Are you sure the hours are correct?

Maybe the hours should be 387.0

That's what the meter says. The tractor sold this morning.

OK, just thought all the GC tractors had a 3 digit hour meter.

Not here; $1k can buy you a 20 year old garden tractor.

Must have used it for mowing 20 plus acres or as a full time PTO generator. If none of the cylinder's are leaking or bent, frame is solid, starts right up and idles or throttles fine. Goes in reverse, high, the PTOs engage, the 3 point goes up and down....in the very least you offer 5k in cash and they take it-it would be a great tractor. Any tractor thats paid off is a great tractor.

I wonder if you leave the key on if it will still increment the hour meter? I have done that by accident with my Husqvarna lawn tractor. Left the key on and it incremented the hour meter by 1000 hours before the battery died over winter storage.
