I have just purchased my first tractor and am excited !!

I opted for a FEL but stopped short of the backhoe for present anyway. Presently I have the following 2 queries regarding backhoes.

1)
Is the backhoe like the FEL in that it must suite the tractor or is it a generic 3pl item or similar in that I can keep a look out for a small tractor backhoe and it will work with my CK30HST ?

2) When the backhoe is fitted/installed is it simple to remove as is the FEL or is it a permanent/semi permanent attachment ? When fitted can I still use 3pl implements such as the RMM or would i have to remove the hoe first ?

Thanks

#1 Most BH require some special attachment to put a Subframe BH on a specific tractor. 3PH type BH's may require special heavy heavy duty links. My Kubota required a new bracket.

#2. Yes, you will need to remove BH from tractor to use 3PH attachments.

There are generic loaders and backhoes that will work. Some are better, others are worse than what the manufactures offer. I don't know how many choice you will have for a Kioti, but Woods, Bradco, Land Pride and Kelly are the big players.

MacMiurphy,

You can get third party 3PH backhoes. I don't like 3PH backhoes. They frame mounted backhoe are stronger and safer. On the Carver website there used to be a story about a family member who was killed when part of the 3PH failed. I think the boom came back and crushed him. I have heard of some other iffy situations with 3PH backhoes. The story may still be out there on the Carver site.

Getting them on an off is going to depend on your tractor, your operator skill, lay of the land and whethers is a frame or 3PH mount.

I have a frame mount and now that I know a trick or two its pretty danged easy. I put the hoe just recently. It has not been used in 12-18 months. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Backed right up to it and it was on much easier than any of my 3PH attachements. But that is only because I use the stabilizers to help the final mount. I don't believe this ste is in the manual but I do it and it makes it easy.

My frame mount works with the other 3PH attachments. Course I have to take off the backhoe. I have heard that the frame mounts can interfere with Mid Mount Mowers but I think that is going to be very specific to the tractor, mower and frame mount.

A back hoe is very usefull. So is everything else that works on a tractor. I just got some pallet forks and I have been trying to figure out how I lived without them all these years. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good Luck,
Dan

Hi Mike, yes I'm in Aus/Oz, how did you know ?

I've been trying to work out how to update my profile but always get distracted by something else on the site... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We've been listening to Daedong for a while so we pick it up pretty quick! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
