I usually think SS means SuperSteer.

I agree with bcoleman that SS is SuperSteer. Guess it is just my blue nature /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif!

Interesting. FWD can also refer to front wheel drive. That's the most common acronym/abbreviation in the auto biz. Usually, 4WD refers to four wheel drive and AWD is used to refer to all wheel drive.

I'm used to 4wd and mfwd for tractors, my manual for my 2120 calls it "engaging the FWD". Oh well... old style tractor I guess.

There must be several terms for DT, so far I have seen "Dual transmission" and "Gear Drive", but on the hood of my old L245DT the words "Double Traction" are displayed on the decal under the model. The DT denoted that it was 4wd as the 2wd versions were just L245.

Thumbing through brochures, I also notice that Kubota will tack a "C" on the end of GST or HST to indicate a cab:

GSTC = GST + cab
HSTC = HST + cab

They also use:

TLB = Tractor/Loader/Backhoe

... not to be confused with:

BLT = Bacon/Lettuce/Tomato /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

And let's not forget:

TBN = TractorByNet /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
