gws - I agree - a properly grounded attena will not attract lightning strikes. Emphasis on 'properly grounded'. I have my reservations when it comes to the 'growth at all costs' wireless networking companies ... there are many issues with what they are trying to do. Most of them are operating in unlicensed portions of the RF spectrum in a very uncoordinated manner. I wouldn't assume they would follow best practices when installing their equipment.

Regarding the term 'high frequency' - technically I also agree with you but was using layman's terms. All these high speed data links are typically in the UHF or greater range as you mentioned. FYI - some info - it's probably a Cisco Aironet they are talking about installing.

Leads to a good question for the installing company - re: how they are going to ground the antenna.

FYI - checked a source on the cell-phone usage in lightning storms. Apparently this is not a proven risk. There has been some anecdotal evidence, but no proven link.
