The small amount of dirt that might be forced into a bearing with a rejuvanator or whatever the name of the tool you use to clear a plugged Zerk can be flushed out with a generous applicationof grease. Many times it isn't just the fitting that is clogged but the internal channels in the shaft or bushing as well. Replacing the fitting won't solve that problem but the hydraulic action of the tool will.
