I am looking for a good hand well pump. Nothing deep 14 feet or less. Lehmans has a brass cistern pump that is freeze proof that looks ok but I know there is a cheaper version of it someplace, I lost it from my favorites. This would be emergency back up drinking water.

Do an internet search "hand well pumps". Here are some sites - - bisonpumps.com - flojak.com - northerntool.com.

Lehman's goods are not cheap, but they do hold up very well. It is a pretty cool store, especially now that they have added on. Flood a couple years ago messed them up some but they are good to go now.

I'd certainly consider that brass pump as any steel one will rust and you will be changing leathers all the time, especially if it is to be a back up.
Just sitting idle and the sleeve will go rusty with the leathers promptly wearing out regularly.
