We had a couple of new holland haybines and when days were long we could cut at 7 in the morning rake at about right after dinner and bale by 7 or 8 in the evening if we had a good wind in the afternoon. To make it simpler if you walk on your swath and it cracks underfoot its time to rake and baling is only a couple hours later, and this was straight alfalfa if you have a mix such as red clover it may take longer to dry.
