I recently bought a hedge trimmers and was abusing it. Long story short I nicked a few teeth and had to take it apart to file them. The gear box was filled with a thick grease and was mostly pushed out of the way of the gears. I smeared some white lithium grease in it and between the blades and put it back together. It now runs better than ever, but I’m wondering if I should take it back apart and fill with something else. This wasn’t a garbage unit either. It was Red-Max.

They probably use a NLGI 0 or 00 grease, aka "flowable grease" or "cornhead grease"

It didn’t look that flowable.

Gun grease. Echo has a zerk on the box for regular service. Just a few pumps and you are good.

This one has a bolt to take out and put grease in but no zerk.

Lube like 00 is not available for typical grease guns...it usually comes in a funnel tipped bottle like regular gear oil...

There’s no place for grease to escape. I think a zerk would be a bad idea anyway.
