Satoh Buck S470D
I have a Satoh buck s470d purchased it 2015 haven't used it much but noticed this past summer the clutch was not disengaging all that well as i could hear the clutch still scrapping with the pedal fully depressed. This weekend I went to start it and it now does not disengage at all. I removed the starter tapped on the fly wheel, removed the a lower drain bolt on the housing and sprayed up in the bell housing with penetrating oil. I then blocked the clutch in and am now letting it sit for a few days. I tried taking the 4 bolt out of the base of the steering box to see if there was an access point into the top of the frame to see down inside but could not remove it.
Is the anything else I ca do as I am not looking forward to splitting the tractor.

Welcome to TBN John...enjoy.

Have your tried adjusting the clutch? Try setting it so there's about an inch (2.5 cm) of free play in the pedal before disengagement actually starts. If you have too much free play it won't disengage. Of course with too little free play the clutch may slip.

This is all I have on the S470. Hope you can glean something. :)

Hello again, so to start when i purchased the tractor 6 yrs ago the outdrive on the starter had let go and was flying around in the housing and that is why it went up for sale. When i got it i used a magnetic pick up tool through the starter opening and got all the pieces i could get. I had the starter rebuilt and for the past 6 years all has been good. As of last week when the clutch started to give me problems I have now split the tractor and can now see all the damage that happened 6 yrs ago. The pressure plate has missing sections and all the mounting bolt heads are damaged. So i will be needing the pressure plate, clutch disk and bearings. Im sure I can mind locally some good bolts to replace these. My question is living in Ontario is there a local source for the parts or does anyone know where I can get what i need.

At the TOP of this section is a PINNED topic. Go there and download the PDF. The last page has all sorts of helps for the Parts Network you will need.

I've had good luck with Satoh parts on Ebay if you're looking for used stuff.

eBay is hit-or-miss. Not much of a warranty from sells either. IF a person is hard up and no where else to turn, then eBay is the last fix to try.

Well almost 6 weeks since I split the buck, valley power was great to order from got all the parts needed-while I was waiting decided to clean, degrease, sand, weld up cracks, do some body work, paint, replace wires, upgrade lights, hydraulic houses and fitting, and make the old tractor look new again.
