I have an old Howard Rotavator Selectatilth that is missing the pto shaft and slip clutch. Does anyone know where I could find one? The shaft coming out of the gear box is 1.5" and has 10 splines.
Also if anyone know what model this is that would help. The factory tag is missing. There is a date stamped on it, 1968.

WOW, this is from the 1960s. I was on another tractor forum and someone actually has the K91 out of the Howard 350 model.
Freebies

There was a Howard owners group when Yahoo groups existed. All of that valuable info is now long gone.

If you knew more of the PTO dimensions, RJ Link in Rockford can make you a new one. They make all kinds of Ag and off-road PTO splined shafts and gearboxes.

OK, do you know what thread size is on the gear box? Is it left or right threaded?

From the looks of things, A splined PTO shaft on one end and the threaded hole interface on the other will get you going once again.

So buying something like this, and have a shop cut a pocket in the back to tap the right threads would work!
(y)

The hole with tap thread should match the Howard then.

Bmaverick, thank you for the information. The threads are right handed. From some other research I've done, it sounds like it's more of an automotive application where you have a 10 spline yoke with a castle nut.
I'm starting to think I may have to go the route of getting something machined if I can't find the actual part. But if I go that route, I may just have them machine me an adapter to from the 10 spline to the typical 540 6 spline shaft now days. That way it's easier to find parts.

I like your thinking.

I can find 10 spline to 6 spline shaft couplers on the web all over the place.

Howard became KongSkilde. Then acquired by CHH and placed into the New Holland Ag group.
