Help me decide - X595 vs. X728

OK…hopefully my last “I need help” posting. Down to the wire with my tractor purchase, now I could use some advice from the experts on which way to lean.

2005 X595 (54” mower/4WD diesel engine w/29 hours) $10,191

2006 X728 (54” mower/4WD gas engine w/0 hours) $10,810

I will be using it to mow primarily, with some light landscaping duties around the yard. In the future I intend to add the 47” 2-stage snowthrower.

My vote is for the Diesel. How much of the warranty is left over?

Not giving up anything to get this. It is my first tractor purchase.

The warranty on the 2005 X595 is good until May 2007

Personally, I think you should purchase a 2305 with 54" deck, and bet it nearly the same money, but that wasn't your question, just my opinion.

As for the two, 595 and don't look back.

I would also go with the diesel. Seen too much on here about how big a fuel hog the gas model is.

tkenney, What's the scoop? Thought you were looking at 2210's and 2305's? For the minor differences in price, I wouldn't be compromising what you ultimately would get out of the tractor. In other words, don't save a few $'s only to not be happy with what you ended up with. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You are right! I am a bit all over the board right now. I love the 2305 but have convinced myself that it is too much machine for my needs. I like the option of having a loader but am unsure if spending the extra $$$ is worth it or not. Can you tell I am confused? I am also paranoid about not being able to collect the grass clippings with a collection system! The price differenc right now between my 2305 quote and the X595 quote is about $4K...pretty big. The X595 is not cheap either but the 2305 puts me right at the limit of what I want to spend.

two thoughts.
It is very common for folks to think that a machine is too big up front, only to 'grow into' the size. They seem to shrink as you use them!

also, is collection that bad on the sCUTs? and why not mulch?
