I was using my Woods RM-550 finishing mower and the belt slipped off.

I noticed the spring had come off where it connects to the front.

I put the belt back on and I have been trying to hook the spring back but can't get it on.

There must be an adjustment for this?

I don't have a manual and can't find one, that is free.

Thanks for the assistance,

I have a Woods RM-306.
On the inside of one of the covers there is a diagram for belt routing and adjustment.
If not, attach a picture, and I am sure someone can help.

its an older one the side covers rusted a long time ago.
It has the large wheel in the center. The diagrams That I've seen show two types.

I put the spring back on the pins then push(pull) the idler arm and pulley, that keeps the tension on the belt, far enough to slip the belt over it. It has always been much easier than trying to put the spring on last.

Looks like your right. I just put the spring back on but can't get the arm back enough to slide the belt on the pulley.

I thought there must be a leverage point to use a bar or something, that I can't find.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.
