Nice looking firewood. No veneer quality log in that tree.

That's one of the biggest oak trees around here. A logger told me it would be about 500 years old.

Have you ever seen Angel Oak down here in the Lowcountry of SC?


We were down south last summer and saw lots of the large live oaks. They were impressively fat at the base. But I don't see much in the way of veneer in them as the branches are all twisty and such.

That tree doesn't look anywhere near 10' across. Maybe 10' around is what you meant? :confused:

Even if that was veneer quality (its not) I dont think the veneer lathe would be able to accept a 10' diameter log. :laughing: However there is more than one type of veneer. :confused2:
