Never thought you could hydrolock an air cooled engine but I did-on gasoline! MY Honda GX 160 on a 27 ton Troy Bilt splinter wouldn't crank-finally got it to turn over and smelled gas. Popped air cleaner cover off and gas poured out. filter element saturated. Pulled spark plug, and changed oil. Then stuck air chuck in cylinder and gave it a shot-gas came flying out. New oil, new filter, running great.
Buddy says I must have had a piece of ice that stuck float- also move it around in barn and end up raising to almost verticle position so perhaps that contributed to problem. From now on I'm shutting fuel valve after use.
