my muffler is at about a 90 deg. turn on the end. Ya'll must have a straight muffler

Yep to have a flapper you have to have straight up exhausht. Some cut the pipe to put a flapper on as they like the sound at idle and some of the original or different models of exhaust have a straight up pipe. The replacement ones and i think some of the originals as well have the 90 degree turn in then which you can face any way you want.

Mine has this bend and faces foward, but a driving rain can still go into it, which is why i put a bottle on the pipe.

Bud, You have a genuine mess on those cylinders...Need to drain them and get some good fluid into them or else you just might have another anchor....BTW the wooden block trick does not always work...But it is a good start if you can get the crank out?The exhaust pipe flapper made the fumes come back on me so i cut a 90 degrees pipe and put mine to the side..Tractoring is fun, fumes are not..
