Sure, thinset is waterproof and use epoxy grout and you are set.

How 'bout on an open patio? Was looking at my concrete just last night thinking it needed something nicer.

Yep Rob you can do it, it is done on pool decks often. Around here they use an epoxy thin set for outdoor applications. Chose a tile that will not be too slick when wet.

Most tile on the market now are "frost proof".
Be sure you get "frost proof", if not after a couple of years it will start
to crack/craze.
Unless you are in a tropical zone that never freezes.

Been there and done that.

Just avoid the shiny glazed tiles if there is any chance of them getting wet. Unglazed tiles would be best, but they don't always look as nice. I've seen quite a few patios down here that use tile that has a matte glaze and they don't seem to be excessively slick when wet.
