Just Curious,

I have been doing some looking at the specs of the 2320 and have noticed that JD list the engine at 24.1 HP. When you look at the Yanmar site for details on the 3tnv76, it lists 25HP at 3200 RPMs? The 2320 specs list the (rated) RPM as 3000 RPM but the max operating at 3170 RPM.

I know it is not a big deal but is JD downrating this engine or just the specs? I would assume running the tractor at max rpm (3170) would mean 25HP?

Again, I am curious as when blowing, I just run full throttle

My guess and its just a guess, is that it actually is 24hp at 3000 rpm and 25hp at 3200 rpm. Difference is 3000 rpm is what is needed to turn the PTO, mid/rear, at the proper speed. If you look at those Yanmar graphs look to see what hp/torque would be at 3000 rpm and see if it matches.

Kind of reminds me of the whole 9.9 hp vs 15 hp with marine outboards...

There was a tread some time ago discussing emission issue that government was looking at imposing after 25hp. I wonder if that has ANYTHING to do with it?:confused3:

Did you check on different model like the 2720?

Interesting...

I do know in the 1026 the same engine is rated at 25 hp at 3200 rpms. Some applications list the same engine with a 3400 rpm high idle, which means that jd was limiting the power for marketing purposes IMHO.

There is a screw in the throttle assy that would appear to control the throttle movement but it has some strange sleeve on it.....

I am curious if by changing the high idle to 3200 I would essentially have a 25hp tractor? I would assume their are electronics involved in the rpm regulation?

Again only 1hp but more curious than anything.
