I was disking our arena with our 1980 JD 2640A when I noticed it was loosing power. I barely made it out of the arena when it died on me. It will start up fine and run for about 20 seconds and die. My first thought is fuel filter but if that does not work, but filter is clear and no air bubbles; what else could it be?

Change the filter and if that fails blow the supply line out from the tank. You have a fuel restriction somewhere.

If changing filter and checking fuel flow from tank doesn't fix it then probably the check ball in fuel return line fitting at inj pump is plugged. easy way to check is loosen the 2 screws on inj pump timing window. Be sure rubber gasket is loose, crank engine and if it runs for an extended period of time clean out check ball. Also get prepared($$$$) to have inj pump worked on as drive ring in inj is deteriorating plugging check ball.
